Creating a memorable main character in your novel can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. With a little planning and forethought, you can create a protagonist that readers will love (or love to hate). Here are ten easy steps to creating a memorable main character:

1. Give your character a unique name. A name can say a lot about a person, so choose wisely.

2. Make your character physically distinctive. Give them a striking appearance that will make them stand out in a crowd.

3. Give your character a distinct personality. What makes them tick? What are their quirks and foibles?

4. Make your character relatable. Readers should be able to see themselves in your character, even if they're not exactly like them.

5. Make your character's backstory interesting. Why are they the way they are? What events in their past have shaped them?

6. Make your character's goals and motivations clear. What do they want? Why do they want it?

7. Make your character's arc satisfying. How do they change over the course of your story?

8. Make your character's voice unique. How do they speak? What words do they use?

9. Make your character's interactions with other characters interesting. How do they get along with others? Do they have any close relationships?

10. Make sure your character is an active participant in your story. They should drive the plot forward, not just be along for the ride.
